When Configure Command Changing

The concept behind the configure command is changing, or configuring, active parameters by processing configuration commands from a source. The configure overwrite-network version of the command is an exception, though. When this command is entered, it copies a configuration file from a TFTP server to the NVRAM, without any processing.

Configure Command Parameter

When the password is entered, the administrator can change any part of the router’s configuration. The parser a part of the EXEC process responsible for command processing is switched into the configuration context, using the configure command, which is usually given an optional parameter specifying the source of configuration.
