This might be a dumb question, but it is possible to use a wireless router that has a 4 port switch built in only for wired purposes, right?

Yes, it is possible. Wireless routers have ethernet ports in the back for just this purpose. Try Bestbuy and get a wireless g router. I say this because if you want to play a psp or ds online, you need to set it to mixed, meaning g and b.
