Onkyo HT-RC180 7th 2-channel A / V Surround Home Network Receiver (Black) I will say that this is the best AV receiver, which I has ever start. I started in the spring of 2000 with a Kenwood, Home Theater in a Box. This was my first receiver and speakers. It was fantastic and gave me good service. Along the way, my thirst grew, and started my equipment improved. So I did an upgrade of an entry Kenwood Pioneer Elite. At the same time I took the front speakers Kenwood and my speakers are 4 ohms custom that Kenwood could not go. I added, using a center-channel matching and continue to Kenwood. After a moment, I remembered that I have a whole 4 "cube speakers that a friend was from my past had built for me. I have tried as surrounds and they took the most excellent and better than the old Kenwood speakers. I replaced the Kenwood sub with a good reputation, but not too expensive, in my game, and Sony speakers is now complete. As time and technology marched HDMI came into play, and that a new receiver meant. Last year I bought a Denon 889th A very fine receiver, I tried my HDMI switching and introduced me to balance Speaker Audyssey Auto. Everything was fine until last month in the Amazon gave me the incredible opportunity to try the Onkyo HT-RC180. The HT-RC180 is a full step from my Denon. I am very impressed. The Onkyo provides direct support for my 4-ohm speakers and will not be easy on my previous amps. This provides for a complete experience, and difficult to hear. Excellent! I bought a HDMI input, five, and an Ethernet port! Yields Ethernet port has many advantages. I put a wired home network and already with a switch in my home theater for all devices with Ethernet ports. The Onkyo met my eighth and last port on the switch. First and foremost, the ability to easily update the firmware. It is so important today, and my Denon had no easy way to update it. I was afraid of sending the idea or to bring to a service center. This connection makes it simple easy. Even if you now do not have a network cable to a cable 50 or 100 meters, as you will need your router to this work rarely easy walk. This will bypass us, there was an update ready to go before the amplifier compatible Windows-7. I am running Windows 7, and it now appears in my device list and I check the internal web site to browse, too. It is their way cool! Other important features of the network connection is the ability to browse and read the unprotected music from your PC. This works very well and has enough interface design. You may also be based on the Web & Broadcast radio play from around the world. Rhapsody, Sirius, and Pandora are also supported. With the ability to update the firmware, I hope, Onkyo adds many other services. I will try to put some pictures of the interface if it has not this already been done to upload. It came after a week in the hands of UPS, very good. Very well packed and survived the trip without double boxing. The device weighs about 40 pounds. You may need help to put it in his new home. I had to rearrange my rack as it was only a fraction of an inch too big for the old flats. I moved to the top of my rack, the service is complete and open air. It is not too hot at all. I know some older Onkyo is very hot. This is my normal experience, only warm. It was easy to hook all my wiring. Everything is well marked and color stickers included for wiring. All speakers have to fit a power connection is available bananas, even the double standard connector. A point is 7th 2 Name. Not really, there are two exits SW but they are the same signal. The only thing missing, and I see what Onkyo typical, there is no A / C output. My Denon has two, they are not set in motion. I miss the convenience. This is the strike that I think is important and not a deal killer by any means. The device is driving two speakers mounted in front and high position. I'm trying not enough speakers, they have to, but the people heard this feature flavor. I also prefer its native and does not perform better sound. I'll let you decide whether you invest in speakers. I was not able to test the ability of multi-room. The included remote is clear and easy to use. Some of the buttons light up to indicate their use, but the remote is not illuminated. It is also capable of running on other devices and can serve as a universal remote control. It can be planned by the recipient by beaming commands to such a trick. I use a Harmony One and it has everything I daily for the operation. I had to say, I had the NR807 Vetter business 180th The manual includes, among them two units. There is a difference of about $ 200 between the individual units. They are similar but not identical. One thing I like more and more expensive than this unit during his cousin. The front bumper is much cleaner. All logos are on the high side, mostly out of sight, which has exceeded 807, the plate face. I play with the 180 for two full weeks and it rocks! I threw all the tests DVD / Blu-Ray and HDDVD I have with him. All Rock the House. DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD, all sound great! I am very happy. I have my turntable connected Technics linear tracking Inheritance, My Vinyl is a hot air and rich. One thing that struck me, the amp is the sound of a click (relay?) When changing the mode. Not too difficult, but it. Noticeable when watching TV via DirecTV DVR, and the music is of the nature of its program differently. The Denon was quiet in this regard. I tested the AM and FM, and they are very good. Costs and presets can all be marked for easy identification. All entries can be labeled. If you are using to connect the HDMI output to your HDTV to connect to, you can see the volume, mute flashing a note and general information. Very handy. In summary. I like this Onkyo. It has all the bells and whistles I need and then some. I highly recommend it if it is cut your budget and your requirements. I give five stars for its price class. It simply competes well with anything in the 700-1000 dollar price and has everything very well. Enjoy it if you do!

You get a lot for your money from Onkyo. I had been a lifelong fan of Sony, but the HT-RC180 is a receiver with many advanced features and high sound quality. The screen display is great – makes customizing settings easy. Audessey Installation was a breeze, and took her into my living room to a new level. Even if I do not understand the situation, such as music files from my PC extract on my home network, the Pandora music-and-net options vTuner are awesome. Is this all a very good price from Amazon.

The Onkyo HT-RC 180 is a home theater system exceptional. I could replace my old Onkyo receiver with in 15 minutes, and I have my HDTV, Blu Ray, Cable Box, and all connected via HDMI and works perfectly. (Just a little note that you've probably seen before but not much money to spend on HDMI cables, this means nothing for them to pay). I had a little problem with the balance of the first, so I called Onkyo customer service and technology, I spoke with was great, patient, and he knew exactly what to do to solve the problem. Two thumbs up for Onkyo customer service. The remote control is very good. I only had to work to all my equipment in 5 minutes and learn step by step instructions that teach you to "Onkyo buttons on the remote control from a distance that there are very easy to follow. It's really cool, especially the characteristics of the contracts of the cable DVR box. Although we have not hung speakers in other rooms and used the "box" characteristic directions are very simple. I recommend this unit to everyone to update their system of origin.

The Onkyo HT-RC180 is a great addition to a home theater setup. I married the beneficiary on a 42-inch 1080p Vizio, Polk Audio RM705 5th 1 speaker, an HD Tivo, a standard DVD player and Wii. This unit is a beast. As another review mentioned, it is the same height as a DVD box and is "deep on 17th I had to buy a new TV, it is possible to meet, but it was worth it. The device comes with a strong guide, but I would advise you, it piecemeal approach rather than working through the whole thing. Here's what I get up and running in 90 minutes and then the attitudes and comments, which I in the next few days. What belongs in 1st place right now Use the Setup sheet to connect the cables. It is fairly easy to understand and behind the aircraft is properly labeled. The receiver is very difficult and very easy to fall, so I have joined me on a chair next to my stand, the cables, then slid into place. 2. After you connected all the cables, just plug in the microphone and use Audyssey calibrate the speakers. It can be calibrated 3 with 6 seats and takes about 15-30 minutes, depending on the number of speakers and seating that you are responsible for the calibration. I calibrated my primary listening positions 3 and worked well for my 5th 1-system. 2. Next program the remote. In a separate codebook Onkyo has included remote for most television sets and components. Follow the instructions in the manual, as it will actually happen. You also need the HDMI inputs (if you have used to assign) a good piece. It's all pretty straightforward. At this point you should be able to catch on your media. It took be about 90 minutes and running with my system. As late 1st Set The "My Movies", "My TV" and "My Music" action buttons at the top of the remote control are virtually endless (I wish there would be a "My Games", too). I have setup to activate the corresponding components with a single keystroke. And off with a single keystroke. In any case, to explore this feature. It is a time to store safely. 2. Hang the Onkyo to the home network. My network is not close to my home theater. I went and ran an Ethernet cable from my router to the receiver. I now have the integrated interface with Pandora running on my computer. All the features of Pandora is beautifully presented and on my TV screen. It's free, but I'll probably upgrade to the paid service, because it far exceeds the use of radio frequencies, and I see myself with a lot. Unfortunately, the Onkyo is not in a position to iTunes interface, but you can configure it so you listen to Internet radio with vTuner (it's a pretty boring Line Interface) and has a capacity of Sirius. 3. If you are in the network, you can go into the settings and update your firmware. It was a quick download, but the writing of it took some time. It has my system about 30 minutes (your mileage may vary). 4. Other audio settings. I made some minor adjustments to the audio post-Audyssey calibration, and my Polk Audio speakers sound great with this receiver. I have the subwoofer sounds perfect, not "hollow" and the system sounds really alive. Try to polish for each of your entries. It may take some trial and error, but I have now (high quality and if) the sound of all my components. General remarks 1 My Wii is fine with the receiver up-sampling different than it ever directly connected to the TV. Sounds great too. Very impressed. 2. I like the Onkyo to automatically adjust the correct settings for the audio media, you see / hear and displays this information. 3. A single remote control! Finally I have a decent life remote control that works well even with Tivo. 4. The display is really clean and does not rotate so embarrassing. 5. It runs quite warm, but is well within the rather tight accommodations. I will update this review if I notice any overheating. 6. The 5 HDMI inputs are really helpful. My 2-year-old Visio TV has only 2 and now no longer relevant. 7. I just love this unit in general. The sound is great. The video is great. The remote is well designed.

  6. "My name is Anthony and I have a home theater in a box junkie, but I saw the light of a dedicated receiver and his name is Onkyo. The last two surround systems, which I have purchased have been used in a home theater (Box HTiB). I thought, who wants to waste time and money searching for the individual components. It worked very well for me, for several years, but then I was too big for most home theater systems have messages miser. . . Here comes the Onkyo HT-RC180, a receiver with multiple inputs, as I hope that I will ever need, and the ability to connect more speakers than I have room for. Some may see this as an exaggeration, but for me it's a luxury to know that I will always have enough room to grow. Highlights include 5 connectivity, the Onkyo 1080p HMDI ports, 2 component video, 3 audio-optical, 3 coaxial digital, and a phono input. You can save up to 11 surround speakers and 2 subwoofers powered unit either. Alternatively, you can use a stereo output into two other rooms or areas. However, if you continue to run 7th 1 Surround sound in your main room, other areas have separate amplifiers. Finally, it supports the speaker at the 4-16 ohms. The design of the Onkyo nothing special. It is basically a black-box size and weight (see my photo included). But it is a well-developed case before an impression of strength and an aluminum panel. The door on the front feels more robust than some doors. Finally, there is a big bright screen, easy to read across the room. The remote control is very sophisticated way. It can be programmed on the TV, receiver and DVD player all at once and go through the necessary inputs to make. There are three buttons on the remote labeled "My film," My TV "and" My Music "can be programmed in this way. The remote is universal and can be programmed to operate virtually any device. Currently it controls my Panasonic TV, Panasonic DVD recorder, LG Blu-ray, and Apple's iPod with a dock. I was very impressed to see that with the iPod dock-working. Programming the remote is simple and will usually have the receiver via a menu that really shines the codes into the remote control (see my photo taken included in delivery), or if the code is not found, that the remote control and the other programming languages so. The remote is a beautiful and well built, but could the piano black finish which attracts fingerprints lose (see my photo included). You'll notice that I did not mention the sound quality yet, and because I do not consider myself an audiophile. I'm an electronics guru with an eye for good form. I am a guru on a budget, but for me, I have been reusing the 5 surround speakers and son, with my Panasonic home theater system includes (the center speaker has two woofers and one tweeter and 320W wind up, left / right front speakers have two woofers and one tweeter, and 190W are measured and the left / right rear speakers have a complete and are rated 90W, so they are decent speakers). Although I had to buy a powered subwoofer, and bought the Sony SA-W2500. First, I am pleased to offer the recipients connection options, and the sound quality would be a marginal improvement. Boy was I wrong! Even with the same speakers, with the exception of the subwoofer, the sound is much more detailed and clear. It is really terminal. Nothing sounds dull or compressed, yet it sounds distribute and surroundy. I'm hearing aids and nuances I had never seen before, and this applies regardless of the source. I think music sounds better with Dolby Pro Logic II in the music. (Note: the music that I listen to the receiver of my iPod from the Apple dock with a mini-plug to stereo RCA connector. The songs on the iPod are all 256kbps AAC, and 99% of them were studio burned CD .) The Onkyo supports several methods of ambient sound, including Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio, and there are 4 buttons on the remote control with "Movie / TV", "music", "Game" and " "THX these buttons to navigate through the various surround modes are available for each species. All my video sources through the Onkyo, and I have noticed no deterioration in the quality or any connection problem, if I do with my 720p Panasonic 32 "LCD TV via HDMI. I have the LG Bly-ray with an HDMI cable is connected, the Panasonic DVD recorder with component video, and the Nintendo Wii to the composite video. The Onkyo has a screen menu that is full of options. Adjusting the list of speakers for the video signals on the remote, you can even adjust the volume and mute the volume on the receiver to the default settings when you turn it on. In addition, the menu system easy to navigate, with large fonts and bright graphics. The AM / FM tuner works well and makes a decent signal. The receiver is also Sirius satellite and HD-capable. To use either service, you must purchase the required modules. With the Ethernet port on the back, you can listen to Internet radio services like Pandora and Rhapsody (unfortunately, the recipient may not) use near an Ethernet port, so I am not able to turn this feature. Also included is the Onkyo Audyssey system MultiEQ. It consists of a microphone that you plug into the receiver and place in a maximum of 6 points in space, and it is considered to calibrate the receiver and speakers to the number of speakers, size, ideal crossover for the subwoofer and acoustic properties . Finally, make sure you are in the task of setting this up, select, cables and speakers, use the Son, and adjust the settings. The manual is over 100 pages for a reason, be sure to read it. All in all. . . A piece of investment, you should also be used to come for years. PS: I know it's a long report, there is much to cover, and if you want to know something, I have not mentioned, please leave a comment and I will do my best to answer them.
