I’m an english speaking Welshman. From Pembrokeshire. Sorry to say I only kmow words. But that doesn’t make me inhuman like some welsh speaking people would have you believe.I lived in London for 22yrs but was always very very proud to say I am WELSH and down to earth. Can ‘t listen to calon lon too long especially on international day in front of mates down the pub gives me a lump in the throat and makes me cry like a baby God bless ya kath bet your da ud be proud

Her Welsh pronounciation is a bit weak in my opinion
I have to say that this song is really meant for male voice choirs!
Cerys and Katherine both do a great job but it´s not the same as a male voice choir!
I agree with steelperfect. Katherine’s voice is more suitable for this song. Not to put down Cerys’ singing, but certain songs are better for particular voices..

She does not have a feeble voice her voice just isn’t as big. I think Katherine Jenkins just inflates songs; where as when Cerys sings i want to smile with happiness. When Katherine sings I want to just want to laugh. I respect that everyone has their own opinions and tastes.
both cerys and catherine are great beautiful welsh women and both very different singers it is unfair to say who is better but i think this song is much more suited to cerys.
nah im sorry guys as good a singer as kath j is cerys matthews owned this song. This version is too big and brassy…its a folk song..stripped down..bare..cerys owns it!
Cerys has a feeble voice, unsuited to songs that should stir the soul. I’m sure she’s a sweet girl, but hearing her strangle this one was painful.
I agree with Gpengelly. I just listened to the anaemic Cerys Mathews version. Katherine sings it as it was meant to be sung. This is the song that always makes me think of my beloved great grandmother and she would have been delighted to hear it sung so well.
I hope Katherine is blessed with lifelong happiness for all the joy she gives to others.

I totally disagree that Cerys is better at singing this….I mean you simply cannot compare Cerys Mathews to Katherine Jenkins they are leagues apart. Katherine is a true credit to Wales and does us proud at every turn. Ardderchog Katherine, da iawn x
I totally agree. Cerys is much the better singer for traditional Welsh songs.
beautiful song but cerys sings it better. her voice is too affected to sing about pure singing. so nasily too.
