Beautiful. I want to learn Welsh but I’m afraid I’ll never be able to roll the “r” properly and the Welsh will **** me; I’ll be murdering their language…

May I refer you to the BBC Wales, Welsh dictionary? There you will find, English adj.seisnig. English Language, noun, saesneg, and English people, coll. noun, saeson. I am not the enemy within nor without. I have stated my scource for what I have written. If you can prove me to be wrong then I will willingly bow to your better judgement. In English there is only one word for the noun, adj. and coll. noun. I believe that is not the case in Welsh.

I think you were our enemy trying to kill of our beautifull language. And get your facts straight. The adjective for english is the same as the english language “Saesneg” not “Saesnig”. Same thing in english. Language “Welsh” adjective “Welsh”

Actually, I think of the “Welsh style” very much rooted in the language, which has characteristics quite different from either the romance languages or the more Germanic English. It is in fact easier to match the sound of the language to the emotion in Welsh than in English. The same song might sound different in Italian, but Welsh seems to have more depth to my ear. Bel Canto is a style that seems to harden a very sibilant language, italian, and give it weight;Welsh doesnt need that.

well, we are welsh. and we do h8 the english. i sure do! jk. i really think that the english should have more respect for us and our culture. then i think we can respect them and their culture and we can all come together to become the uk. isn’t it better to get along and be peaceful than hold a thousand-year-old grudge? this isn’t really directed towards you specifically, but all welsh people need to realize this.

The Welsh style is ‘from the heart’. I don’t care if they sing ska, hip-hop, whatever – so long as they’re enjoying themselves. Anything that promotes the welsh language and culture in a positive way is alright by me.

It is easier to sing along if it’s not operatic though ;)

  15. coffeescup says:

I think they are defining the operatic styles as more prestigious and therefore less Welsh. I understood what you were trying to say! lol I am going to cover this son in a Welsh-style as defined here, but I’m not Welsh and I hope everyone is ok w/ that!! lol
