Home network become extend following gaining popularity of the computers. Even nowadays almost each person has own computer in home. Prefer a smart plug and play switch over hub for better performance. A dial-up connection can also be shared, but not advisable as it will choke the bandwidth. The dial up connection is fast becoming obsolete, though it is far less expensive and accessible from anywhere, just requires a phone line.
Security is the key issue for any computer in a network. Once the computer is connected to World Wide Web, it is vulnerable to various security threats. The malicious software afloat in the web will find inroads to your computer if left unprotected. Many internet service providers also offer basic protection support.
