What does it mean when someone says a computer has a wireless lan?

   That is correct.

   I just thought I’d add that you would also need a wireless router if you wanted wireless Internet at home, and you’d also need a high speed Internet account to your house such as DSL or cable.

   The laptop you are asking about could get Internet at any wireless access point that provides free Internet.
