Is Cisco Networking a good field to get into?

cisco
Scott904 asked:

I’m currently attending college for a Cisco Networking Professional degree. Is this field ideal for someone who isn’t very computer savy? And is it a profession that’s worth going for?

Stay out of the IT field all together. It is a saturated market

its a pretty good add on to your resume, but i wouldnt go into a field only with the IT certification unless you plan on doing it with something else.

I agree, it is a very saturated market

Not sure about your “ideal field” question but the networking profession is an excellent field if you are formally trained using Cisco technology.

Having the degree is beneficial. Having hands on experience (whether in a class lab or real-world) is more benficial. Unless you get higher level Cisco certifications (beyond CCNA), most positions will want some level of PC experience and “savviness.” You just don’t see many “Cisco Networking Only” jobs out there for lower level people.
