How do I protect my wireless connection from others?

wireless
barbevans04 asked:

My neighbors are able to get on my wireless internet, and I don’t want them to be able to get on. I have a Linksys BEFW1154 router. Is there any way I can block them from being able to get on my connection? I have a desktop that is directly connected, and I have a laptop that I want to use through the router.

I’m familiar with computers, but not well enough to know about routers and wireless internet. So the easiest way would be appreciated. Thanks!
Also, I have no idea where to go to change the settings. I can’t find anything for Linksys anywhere.

Well, the best way to secure your network is to add a WEP key to keep out unwanted users.

    you have 2 alternatives:

    1. WEP Key (can be hacked, have to change the key often, and use at least 128bit encryption or higher)

    2. WPA – Is much more secure

    I suggest WPA, of course

[edit] and also use the MAC Adress Filtering, so you will be absolutely safe ! [/edit]
