Verizon Wireless And Ring Back Ring Tones

verizon wireless
Low Jeremy asked:

Verizon Wireless came up with an answer to the ring tone rage that is going around in the cell phone industry. Instead of going with the flow that every cell phone manufacturer has gone through, Verizon came up with the ring tone reverse.

Reverse ring tone is basically the music ring tone that the caller is hearing from his or her side of the line. As the owner of the cell phone, you get to choose the music that you want to replace the standard ring tone that people will hear when they call you. so, you will not only get to enjoy the music when others are calling, your callers will also get to hear some music while they wait for you to pick up.

Although ring back tones have been going around for quite sometime, it was Verizon Wireless who started making it a hit in the United States.

Verizon Wireless first presented this ring tone idea during the days when ring tones were on its peak. With all the major cell phone companies trying on different approaches to ring tone, Verizon decided to shift from what the wave was about. So they designed this ring back capabilities for people to shift to.

Just like the ring tones for cell phones, ring back became one of the most popular and most coveted services to ever hit the cell phone market. Almost everyone are willing to pay the extra charge that goes with getting themselves ring back tones from Verizon Wireless. And why not? Ring back is the neatest thing after ring tones.

Verizon Wireless was wise enough to start a trend in ring tone technology and present it at the proper time when people were already tired of their ring tones. The thing with ring tone is that they tend to become boring once you get to hear it everyday. Not only that, there is always that urge to change from one downloadable music to another once new songs hit the charts. This makes people fickle minded in the search for the ones they definitely want.

With Verizon Wireless’s ring back tones, some of the problem is eliminated because the owners are not the ones who will get to hear the tones over again. For the callers, any kind of song is an welcoming relief to those standard tones that they hear on home and office phone lines.

Ring back tones can make the waiting worth it. It is just like listening to a radio or stereo. There would not be impatient callers with ears getting tired from the continued buzz. All they have to do now is listen to whatever is playing over the cell phone while they wait. It can be said that listening to a good music can be fun. Besides, once you get absorbed in the tone, you would not realize that the ones you are calling have let you waited a long time on the line.

The ring back tones from Verizon Wireless is one major breakthrough that is still being used by many up to now. The thing that differentiates it from ring tone is that you would not need a new model or advanced cell phone kind to avail of this service. Any brand or kind of cell phone will do.

Wireless Phone Contracts and Early Termination Fees

verizon wireless
Joem Hughes asked:

Have you ever signed a contract to subscribe to a certain type of service? If you have, then you probably encountered the term, termination fees. Service industries such as mobile phone service and subscription television commonly have termination fees or early termination fees as they are more commonly known.

The process usually works this way. A person purchases cellular phone service from a particular wireless carrier. He or she might be required to sign a two-year contract in order to avail of a wireless phone plan. Now that contract might stipulate a $200 fee in the event that the customer breaks the contract or wants to opt out of it.

Here’s a list of the current termination fee for each major wireless phone carrier:

[ad#ad-1]
Alltel: $200 per phone line
AT&T: Prorated
Sprint: $200 per phone line (to be prorated next year)
T-Mobile: $200 per phone line (to be prorated next year)
Verizon: Prorated

However, the imposition of these termination fees has been criticized by consumer interest groups. These fees prevent users from migrating to superior services so they are labeled as being anti-competitive. A lot of people would rather stick to their old network, rather than pay a significant fee to move to another network or wireless phone carrier. More and more people have spoken out about this unfair practice and it seems that their complaints have finally been recognized.

The clamor and the disputes about the unfairness of early termination fees in wireless phone contracts have lead to positive changes in the last couple of years. Verizon wireless was the first carrier to give in when it announced that it will prorate its early termination fee. AT&T followed Verizon’s lead and other carriers namely, T-Mobile and Sprint, have also decided that they would begin prorating their ETF in the first half of next year.

Now, what does a prorated early termination fee entail? The customer will still have to pay a fee for ending the mobile phone contract abruptly. However, the amount will decrease as the decision to end the contract early gets closer to the contract end date. This means that a customer will no longer be forced to pay the original fee if he decides to end the contract.

So far, Alltel has not made any announcements on making its ETF prorated. However, it may lose customers if it remains as the only major mobile phone carrier to have a non prorated early termination fee next year. It would be logical to assume that the company will also follow the examples of other wireless networks to keep their consumers happy. After all, the wireless phone industry is hot contested and any shift in policy or program of a cell phone carrier may send loyal supporters looking for a better alternative.

Verizon Cell Phone TV Service Launched

verizon wireless
Courtney Tuttle asked:
Verizon Wireless officially launched their mobile TV service on March 1st 2007, which has been branded Vcast Mobile TV. For now, the service will be available in 20 markets. The service is already available from Verizon, and users can visit Verizon’s site or call *611 from their handsets to subscribe. Verizon is offering the service for $15.For users that have already been using Verizon’s Vcast service, there is a package where users can keep all their current service options, and get Vcast mobile TV for $25 total each month.

Vcast currently allows Verizon customers to download music, video clips, wallpapers, screen savers, games, and more. The videos that users have been able to download include: sports highlights, comedy, television shows, and more.

However, none of the shows were live television; surely Vcast users everywhere will be upgrading.
[ad#468]

Verizon wireless has announced that Vcast Mobile TV will have eight live channels including: CBS, Comedy Central, Fox, MTV, NBC News, NBC Entertainment, and Nickelodeon. Even though the lineup is quite modest at this point in time, Verizon will be able to get the bugs out of the system. Verizon says that they plan to expand the lineup soon.

Verizon is using Qualcomm’s MediaFlo technology for the service. The technology allows for streaming video to inexpensively reach the hands of wireless users. It appears at this time that AT&T will also use MediaFlo when they release their mobile television service later this year.

AT&T and T-Mobile have both announced that they will be offering some kind of mobile television service sometime this year. Sprint Nextel has yet to comment on the addition of the service. Sprint Nextel does offer, however, a service that allows users to download video clips, so it shouldn’t be a stretch for them to implement.

At this point in time, there is only one model that Verizon offers with the service. The Samsung SCH-a620 offers streaming video and unprecedented full Vcast functionality.

You can pick up the model on Verizon’s site for $150, after all of the available discounts. This price is for new customers and customers who are available for upgrades. All users will have to sign or resign a new 2-year contract to get this price.

Verizon has a second television phone on the way, the LG vx9400. The model should be released later this month. The vx9400 has a swivel screen that allows users to watch television from two different angles. The screen size of the vx9400 is much larger than the SCH-a620, which could be why Verizon is releasing the phone a few weeks after.

Here are the markets where the service is available: Chicago, Ill.; Denver and Colorado Springs, Col.; New Orleans, La.; Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas; Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.; Seattle-Tacoma and Spokane, Wash.; Tucson, Ariz.; Albuquerque and Santa Fe, N.M.; Omaha-Lincoln, Neb.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Norfolk-Richmond, Va.; Salt Lake City, Utah; Palm Springs, Calif.; Portland, Ore.; Wichita, Kan.; Las Vegas, Nev.; and Kansas City and St. Louis, Mo.

The service is already getting positive reviews from quite a few blogs and sites. It will definitely be a positive when the service reaches all markets.
